THE DIRECT SUPPORT WORKFORCE CRISIS
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) workforce that serves individuals with intellectual/devel-opmental disabilities is in crisis. This workforce is experiencing record vacancy and turnover rates. New Jersey's new minimum wage law has the potential to worsen the current crisis. The state needs to appropriate $54 million in the FY2020 budget to begin to address this increasing risk to the health and safety of vulnerable individuals.
